Bryant Gonzalez

ODEI Student Fellow and SAGE Fellow (SJEIC)

Biography:

Hello! My name is Bryant Gonzalez. My pronouns are he/him. I am a 3rd year student here at Cal Poly Humboldt majoring in Criminal Justice. I am originally from Los Angeles but I am currently loving the beauty of Humboldt County. After my time here at CPH I would love to go on to graduate school because my overall goal is to become a professor. I have never liked academics until coming to college and now it's the career I want to pursue. When I am not focused on my academics I like to read and write, and I'm no Picasso, but I occasionally paint. Overall, I’ll say that I try to be a very understanding person and have no problems communicating with anyone. I try not to procrastinate but sometimes it gets the best of me, but overall I believe myself to be driven and goal orientated.

I am here at ODEI because I want to help implement all the great values that this department holds, especially being able to collaborate compassionately. This is very important to me because the ability to understand and respect someone else's perspective is huge to me. Now more than ever I believe that we are all on our own separate isolated islands and it is crucial that we start building bridges so we can connect in the middle. Being in this rather small town it is very important that we not just have diversity but really give as a sense of belonging. I am very excited to be working with this great team and I am  looking forward to making the most out of my experience here at ODEI!
